How my sister sliced and diced and hung my painting upside down
trying to turn it into modern art.
I gave this painting to my sister. She sliced it up and
hung it upside down. When I saw it years later I was
confused as to what it even was. Than I realized when
I turned it 180 degrees it was Lynville Falls in NC.
I like this waterrfall. From above it looks like the waterfall
is comming out of the rock face.
Since, I used 18 x 12 inches paper back then. I was able to reconstruct the painting. See the black outline. I also found photos that I had taken of Lynfille Falls and put them into the picture. I never finished the Waterfall which I left blocked out in white. This was a difficult drawing to do as the perspective was very complicated. This type of drawing is called foreshortening and is diffcult to get it right. The painting was also very dangerous to make. I was above the waterfall, looking down upon it from a high angle from a trail lookout. Fortunately, the lookout had a nice stone wall I could sit on, layout my chalks, and do the paining. I was about 200 feet above the falls sitting on the stone wall. It was also off the tourist trail so I was left alone to paint it. I gave the unfis painting to her because it was the most dangerous and diffioult painting I had yet done. If i finished it and sold it I would never have seen it again. So I sent it tko my sister. My sister really sliced and diced up my painitng. I lost about 60% of the painting. What she did, was a insult to me as a artist: By trying to turn a representational painting into modern art. So, If she wants modern art work, then she can buy it. She is never going to turn my artwork into modern art again. . |
